The Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN) will broadcast two historical events for the 100th Anniversary of Fatima on October 13: the Candlelight Rosary Procession and the Worldwide Children's Eucharistic Holy Hour at the National Shrine of the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC.
October 13, 2017 is the 100-year anniversary of the final Marian apparition at Fatima, Portugal, often referred to as “The Day the Sun Danced.” His Eminence Donald Cardinal Wuerl will lead the Candlelight Rosary Procession and a Prayer of Entrustment for individuals and families to Jesus Christ through Our Lady of Fatima’s Immaculate Heart.
Live Broadcast
The Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN) will broadcast the Candlelight Rosary Procession live at 6:00 p.m. Central Time from the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception to over 140 nations.
Earlier that day, at 9:00 a.m Central Time, EWTN will broadcast the 15th Annual Worldwide Children’s Eucharistic Holy Hour from the Basilica. This event spiritually unites the children of the world before Jesus Christ in the Blessed Sacrament to make reparation for sin, console the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and to pray for their families, their countries, and our world.
Family Entrustment
Father Chris Alar, MIC, Director of the Association of Marian Helpers of the Immaculate Conception, will preside at the Holy Hour and his video invitation encourages all Catholic schools, home schools, and families to participate.
Father Mitch Pacwa, SJ, EWTN program host, in a special video invitation, encourages all people to take part in these special family events. The video is only 150 seconds (2 1/2 minutes) and well worth watching.
Connie Schneider, Program Director for Children of the Eucharist, said: “Gather your families, wherever you are on the evening of October 13. If possible, tune in to EWTN, light a candle, pray the Rosary, recite the Prayer of Entrustment, and spiritually unite with Cardinal Wuerl. We hope Catholics worldwide will join in from their dioceses, parishes, homes, nursing homes… everywhere!”
A Family Entrustment Pamphlet is available to help your children and school students participate with families all over the world. As Mother Angelica always said: “Don’t miss the opportunity!” +JMJ+
