Atonement for Sin
38 Then Judas assembled his army and went to the city of Adul′lam. As the seventh day was coming on, they purified themselves according to the custom, and they kept the sabbath there. 39 On the next day, as by that time it had become necessary, Judas and his men went to take up the bodies of the fallen and to bring them back to lie with their kinsmen in the sepulchres of their fathers.
Expect Nothing
27 “But I say to you that hear -- love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you. 29 To him who strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also; and from him who takes away your cloak, do not withhold your coat as well. 30 Give to everyone who begs from you; and of him who takes away your goods, do not ask them again. 31 And as you wish that men would do to you, do so to them."
Gift of Suffering
1 Therefore, since we are justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Through him, we have obtained access to this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in our hope of sharing the glory of God. 3 More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, 4 and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, 5 and hope does not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.
A New Life
My name is Elizabeth, and I graduated from Saint Frances Cabrini Academy in 2013. I started attending Cabrini in kindergarten -- a total of nine years at Cabrini. My family joined Saint Wenceslaus Church soon after our move from California to Missouri. From the very beginning, Saint Wenceslaus has been a home to my family. They welcomed us with open arms and really helped us settle into Saint Louis, Missouri and build a new life.
A Simple "Yes"
A simple “yes” can change the world. At least, it has changed mine. Five years ago, I said “yes” when I was offered the position of principal at Saint Frances Cabrini Academy in Saint Louis, Missouri. Little did I know how this would change my life! As a new principal, there was much to learn and a pretty steep learning curve to get past. As I matured in my role as principal, I came to realize what an incredible gift the school community of Saint Frances Cabrini Academy was to me.
We are Many; We are One
Consider an ethnically diverse world with individuals who respect one another and work together toward common goals. Saint Frances Cabrini Academy, an urban grade school in South Saint Louis City, is already a model for a diverse world. Cabrini is a kindergarten through 8th grade school, and it has become an anchor in the community. It is a special place with families from countries such as Eritrea, Ivory Coast, Burma, and Vietnam. Cabrini believes that providing a quality, affordable Catholic education is the most effective way to create opportunities for our children and their families.
Mother Teresa
On Sunday, September 4, at Mass celebrated by Pope Francis in Saint Peter's Square in Rome, Mother Teresa of Calcutta will become Saint Teresa of Calcutta. Her actions speak louder than words, but here are just a few of her jewels of wisdom: "Keep the joy of loving God in your heart and share this joy with all you meet, especially your family. Be holy, let us pray."
Doctors in the Bible
1 Make friends with the doctor, for he is essential to you; God has also established him in his profession. 2 From God the doctor has wisdom, and from the king he receives sustenance. 3 Knowledge makes the doctor distinguished, and gives access to those in authority. 4 God makes the earth yield healing herbs which the prudent should not neglect; 5 was not the water sweetened by a twig, so that all might learn his power? 6 He endows people with knowledge, to glory in his mighty works, 7 through which the doctor eases pain, 8 and the druggist prepares his medicines.
